Job Summary

Reports to: Chief Membership Officer

Supervises: Member Experience Team Members

Summary: The Member Experience Associate Director is responsible for supervising Member Experience Teams which are comprised of Community Engagement Managers and Volunteer Experience Managers, developing community engagement strategies, ensuring the retention and support of volunteers across the Council, and developing and maintaining key Council partnerships. The Member Experience Associate Director is responsible for supporting conflict resolution issues that have impact on partnerships, analyzing data for the purpose of setting strategies, overseeing recruitment and retention efforts and overseeing Council special projects. This position requires strong interpersonal and supervisory skills, project management skills, expertise in geographic/population characteristics of the Council’s 26 county jurisdiction, flexible scheduling and reliable transportation.

Job Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include job duties that are specific to the position.

• Supervise Member Experience Teams comprised of Volunteer Experience Managers and Community Engagement Managers, implement performance factors, appraise results and provide ongoing guidance.

• Interview potential candidates, provide feedback to Human Resources and CEME Directors regarding candidates.

• Onboard new staff and provide ongoing training for staff.

• Promote team building through effective communications, targeted training and staff development opportunities.

• Implement council strategies through field staff serving in the Community Engagement Manager role and Volunteer Experience Manager role.

• Provide interim support for open Member Experience positions and deploy resources to ensure geographic coverage across the council.

• Assist with the development of budgets and monitoring of mission centers as needed.

• Monitor operations within Member Experience Teams and ensure that volunteers comply with Council’s risk management policies and procedures. Address and escalate non-compliance when needed.

• Manage the Community Engagement support for and collaboration with United Way partners, Chambers of Commerce and other key collaborative partnerships.

• Provide input for membership goals, membership strategies, and benchmarks in conjunction with the CEME Management Team members and Senior Director of CEME Department and support reporting, metrics and forecasts of Council membership.

• Provide guidance to Member Experience Team members in cultivating and nurturing relationships with appropriate community volunteers, and council-wide volunteers to support council strategic priorities within targeted areas.

• Provide guidance to Community Engagement Managers to develop and execute a written community marketing, sales and recruitment plan customized to the geographic and demographics characteristics of the assigned territory. Monitor membership recruitment to identify trends, and adjust strategies where needed.

• Provide guidance to Volunteer Experience Managers to develop and execute a written community and regional cultivation and retention plan customized to the geographic and demographics characteristics of the assigned territory. Monitor membership retention to identify trends, and adjust strategies where needed.

• Provide guidance to Member Experience Team members with regard to conflict resolution in their assigned geographic areas and assist with resolutions of escalating situations.

• Serve as a contributing member to special assignment teams to support council strategic plan objectives or leader of assigned special assignment teams to support CEME strategic plan objectives.

• Develop strategies with limited scope and provide leadership, direction and support to special assignments in order to reach Council goals and objectives.

• Analyze market data on demographics, membership trends, and other available information in order to implement a comprehensive strategy to develop and engage new community partners, volunteers and girls in assigned geographies.

• Study and become proficient in girl and adult related trends, multi-cultural data and demographics, marketing and sales techniques, effective communication and knowledge of communities and organizations in order to effectively implement a strategic membership recruitment plan.

• Responsible for ensuring girl and adult volunteer led membership goals are achieved through a combination of retained and recruitment girls and adults.

• Responsible for implementing community engagement and development across the council jurisdiction including networking, advisory boards, MOU’s, partnership agreements, facilities utilization, school districts, faith-based institutions, leveraging national partnerships, etc.

• Partner with Community volunteer teams as well as assigned volunteer advisory teams.

• Research, study, and become knowledgeable about external community needs and aspirations.

• Support the development and implementation of council plans to evaluate girl outcomes and customer satisfaction and use the findings for continuous improvement in volunteer delivery of the GSLE and customer experience.

• Work with key members of the management team to design and implement a multifunctional organizational plan to ensure Girl Scouting leverages the full range of community assets and constituencies in fulfillment of its mission.

• Develop approaches to identify, select and implement effective partnerships to advance Girl Scouts’ intended impact in its jurisdiction.

• Develop new and enhance existing networks with other leaders in the youth development and nonprofit sector to identify new opportunities for innovative, collaborative programming.

• Initiate, develop and manage collaborations with agencies, donors (in partnership with Development), associations, and community organizations to support the council’s strategic objectives and goals.

• Oversee and ensure staff, volunteers and girls find, leverage and share stories about how Girl Scouting changes girls’ lives – and how girls change the world.

• Manage Member Experience Team member’s PTO requests, flex time requests, timecards, and schedules for the Council. • Performs other duties as assigned.
