The Army Modernization Department is at the forefront of transforming how the Army develops and delivers capabilities to warfighters. The Department includes support to the Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO), the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology ((ASA(ALT)), Army Futures Command (AFC), Army Research Lab, and the Army G8. The MITRE Project Lead for the Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) will lead high visibility efforts with significant impact, will regularly engage with senior leaders to understand their priorities and shape work, and will be a strong collaborator across the Division, MNS, and industry. The project spans a number of exciting areas including: human machine integrated formations, air and missile defense, UAS/C-UAS, robotics, electronic warfare (EW), sensors, command and control (C2), networking, contested logistics, decision aids, rapid prototyping, mission engineering, system-of-system engineering, modeling & simulation, operational analysis, hardware and software in the loop, and experimentation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Primary interface to multiple senior sponsors within RCCTO

  • Define and lead fast-paced, high impact work in multiple areas including: human machine integrated formations, robotics, air and missile defense, contested logistics, command and control (C2), c-UAS, sensors, system-of-system engineering, operational analysis, lab and field experimentation

  • Identify high impact technologies both inside and outside of MITRE that are great candidates for rapid prototyping and experimentation and work with the sponsor to define and execute new efforts

  • Staff and lead a diverse 10-15 staff year MITRE team

  • Enable the Army’s transformation in key areas through impactful technical deliverables, briefings, reports, and Executive level recommendations to senior sponsors

  • Collaborate internally with other Project Leads, Department Managers, Chief Engineer, across MITRE MNS, MITRE Labs, and outside of MITRE with RCCTO, industry, and key stakeholders including Army Futures Command

  • Responsible for managing budget and delivering on time

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related discipline

  • Experience interacting with senior sponsors and shaping high impact work

  • Adept at clearly communicating concise, actionable recommendations to Senior Leader

  • Strong, well-rounded technical leadership ability in one or more of the following areas: robotics, autonomy, mission/system-of-systems engineering, air and missile defense (sensors, fires, C2), operational analysis, communications & networking, command and control, or rapid prototyping

  • Ability to proactively identify and rapidly pursue new high-impact technical opportunities

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and operating in a fast-paced sponsor environment

  • Previous task or project leadership experience

  • Experience working with DoD

  • Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the Army

  • Proven track record of establishing trusted relationships with General Officer / SES level sponsors, shaping new and existing work, and collaborating across MITRE

  • Knowledge of Army systems, science and technology efforts, and Program Managers especially in the areas of: robotics, autonomy, air and missile defense, contested logistics, EW, deep sensing, communications & networking, C2, hypersonics, and directed energy

  • Knowledge of Army Modernization and Transformation efforts

  • Track record of partnering with industry

  • Active Top Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SCI
