District Sign Technician III: Performs highly skilled transportation related work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, mailboxes, and delineators in a district. Work includes maintaining inventory and records, ordering of signs and materials, and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.District Sign Technician IV:Coordinates and performs advanced skilled transportation related work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, mailboxes, and delineators in a district. Serves as a lead worker and trains other technicians. Work includes coordinating and maintaining inventory and records, ordering of signs and materials, and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to a supervisor.The essential duties for the District Sign Technician III include: May serve as a work crew project lead ensuring work performed meets project specifications. Trains other technicians on sign installation and safety procedures. Assists transportation maintenance crews with maintenance-related work as required; may respond to assist with emergency situations/conditions. Moves equipment, tools, materials, and products. Issues signs to maintenance sections/transportation crews; uses tools and equipment and moves signs and related materials. Operates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signs. Orders signs from the regional sign shop. Repairs and installs signs, supports, foundations and delineators in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other departmental guidance. Conducts nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure reflectivity of signs, delineators, stripping, and retroreflective pavement markers (RPMs). Inspects roadways to identify sign and delineator deficiencies and recommend repairs. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Additional duties for the District Sign Technician IV include: Assists in scheduling and assigning work. Serves as a lead worker by advising, training, and instructing employees in shop policies and procedures; acting as a resource for complex questions; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team membersandrsquo; career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operations coverage. Coordinates and conducts nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure reflectivity of signs, delineators, stripping, and retroreflective pavement markers (RPMs).
