Here’s the scoop - Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for facilitating timely and effective operations within the Warehouse, ensuring that the productivity of staff is at optimum performance and that all inbound and outbound items are processed accurately and on a timely basis. The Warehouse Supervisor will work out of one of our facilities: Morinville DC, Yellowhead DC, and/or Acheson Warehouse within the Kitchen and reports to the Warehouse Manager.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation and leadership of the team through strong performance management, training & development and coaching.

  • Ensure compliance to Company’s policies, practices and procedures related to Human Resources, Health and Safety, Food Safety, and the Environment by reporting incidents and completing incident reports.

  • Prepare and distribute order plans and work closely with the Warehouse Manager to prioritize order plans and monitor their completion to facilitate timely and effective warehouse operations.

  • Oversee the secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries, and the sorting and distribution of incoming and outgoing shipments, document, and report discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager.

  • Develop and demonstrate excellent communication practices and successful internal working professional relationships with staff and internal departments.

  • Lead team members with a hands-on, people-focused approach in their development, coaching, communication, improvement, and team building while holding them accountable.

  • Develop and implement new methods, processes, and improvements.

  • Control and organize storage and inventory space while ensuring accuracy of inventory and shipments.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • May provide back-up for other Warehouse Supervisors during their absences.

What are we looking for?

  • Post-secondary education in related field such as Supply Chain, Logistics, and/or Project Management is considered an asset, but not a requirement.

  • 5+ years previous supervisory experience within a Warehouse environment.

  • Demonstrate excellence in customer service and relationship building, while having a sense of urgency.

  • Intermediate level MS Office skills, WMS and M3 (ERP System) skills & Microsoft Suite.

  • Ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol and Fit-to-Work test up to 35 lbs.

  • Ability to clear a Criminal Record Check and provide references.

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are in a pet food warehouse environment, with exposure to dust, noise, odours, and/or fluctuating temperatures.

  • Supervisors are expected to work a variety of shifts and be flexible in their availability.

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.

  • Job duties require physical exertion, including the ability to manually lift up to 35 lbs while using established safe lift procedures.
