Introduction:

Kaizen is the prime implementer in Ethiopia and Djibouti of the $48 million USAID Learning Analytics Activity , which combines with the $12 million USAID Learning Adaptation Activity to form the USAID Learning Project.

Ethiopia Learning Analytics Activity Overview

Ethiopia Learning Analytics Activity is designed to bolster the capacity of USAID/Ethiopia to work towards a Mission-wide systematic and intentional approach to learning. The Activity will improve data management and help the Mission to make timely decisions in program design and implementation. The Activity will enable wider collective impact of USAID and other partners – thereby better meeting the Development Objectives outlined in the Mission's Country Development & Cooperation Strategy (CDCS). This is a five-year Activity that ends in April 2028.

Program Overview: 

The Young Graduates Program is a one-year Apprenticeship Program that aims to provide practical hands-on training and mentorship program for new graduates from a cross-section of universities and colleges in Ethiopia who have demonstrated academic excellence in their fields of study and where they can pursue a fast track to professional growth by undertaking a customized program or learning with professional coaching and practical application of skills and knowledge sharing. In advancing the Young Graduates Program, Kaizen aims to cultivate and foster a critical pathway to professional advancement and personal growth for the young leaders of Ethiopia.  

Each candidate will work in one of Kaizen Ethiopia’s Learning Project’s technical components including Data & Analytics Support, Evidence and MEL training, Third Party Monitoring and Evaluation, Organization Transformation, Learning Innovation & Capacity Building and Communications and Knowledge Management.  Each apprentice will also be required to complete 2-3 online training courses and/or certification programs as applicable and will submit a written report on their experiences at the end of the program

Selected candidates are expected to work on program development and technical support in data collection and analysis, copy-editing and report writing, communications, graphic design, administrative and event coordination, and others as needed. Each candidate will be assigned and paired with an experienced mentor and technical supervisor with a customized work plan and performance and skills management track to benefit the greatest knowledge transfer. Candidates will be placed on 3-month rotational assignments, providing a variety of experiences across thematic areas and industries. The Graduate Program also evaluates each candidate’s performance and offers pathways for progression, with potential opportunities for full-time employment or apprenticeship contract renewal based on individual contributions and accomplishments throughout the program.

  • Database management and record keeping 

  • Communications, report writing and graphic design.

  • Event planning and logistics management

    Eligibility and Qualifications

    The program is designed for individuals in the early stages of their professional career and so applicants must apply within one to two years of obtaining their degree or certificate. The best candidates are self-motivated, ambitious and eager to learn from individuals with intellectual curiosity and a drive for excellence. 

    Candidates : 

  • Must be recent graduates (1-2 years after graduation) or enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at the time of application; and

  • Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA or be on the Dean’s list.

  • Proficient in English (written and oral) 

  • Adept in computer skills (Microsoft Suites, PPT, Adobe etc.)

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.

  • Ability to work well with others (a team player).

  • Willing to learn new skills and accept challenges.

  • Ability to interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.

  • Have extracurricular activities and/or internship or volunteer experiences as a plus.
