Engineering Manager for Hydraulic and Powertrain design at Hydraulic Excavator Development Center (HEDC) in Akashi, Japan. As the Engineering Manager, you will be managing an engineering team responsible for design, development, validation, and support of EXD products. This role will lead the development of hydraulic systems, hydraulic component and powertrain in specific machine applications globally. This role will create and deploy hydraulic systems, hydraulic components and powertrain through product development and maintenance while coaching, mentoring, and managing an international team. This role is intended to convert leading edge new technology into machine solutions that delight our customers in reliability, durability, and cost. As the leader and manager in this role you will be the advocate for team member advancement & development opportunities. You will be the representative voice of the team with deep collaboration with machine groups, purchasing support, a stakeholder to component development, including internal and external business partners in the world. In this role, you will also need to lead first line managers as mid-level manager. This position will be responsible for :

  • Manage hydraulic system, hydraulic component, and powertrain development for 13 ton & above Hydraulic Excavators and their derivative machines.

  • Create, plan, and execute MGPP directives of development and team growth in tactical and strategic form.

  • Manage issues resolution relative to production line support and customer improvements.

  • Foster a positive team culture with individual focus on personal needs of each employee for continued professional growth.

  • Provide strategic guidance as a stakeholder in the development of new components from external partners to support future program needs.

  • Manage team to efficiently maintain project plans to release product, driving projects to completion on time and within budget.

  • Manage staffing, development, and performance management programs for the engineering team; motivate and develop project and team leaders.

  • Demonstrate and enhance diversity & inclusion, psychological safety culture to the team.

Top Candidates will have:

  • Deep technical experience of hydraulic systems and powertrain on targeted machine including cylinders, implements, pumps, motors, rotary drives, valves, filtration, solenoids, lines layout and control concepts.

  • Knowledge and experience of new product introduction ( NPI ).

  • Experience with managing, fostering, and maintaining positive internal and external relationships.

  • Superior skills of communication and collaboration in English and Japanese.

  • Strong leadership and team management skill.

Additional Info :

  • Location :Akashi, Hyogo (Japan)

  • Required Travel : Up to 20% international and domestic travel is required.

  • Domestic relocation is available to those who qualify.

  • Visa sponsorship is not available.
