University at Albany Dir. of Training and Tech Assistance in Albany, New York

The New York State Youth Justice Institute (hereafter YJI) is seeking to hire a Director of Training and Technical Assistance. In partnership with NYS agencies, local governments, direct service providers, and youth and families impacted by the justice system, the YJI's purpose is to ensure that at-risk youth in New York receive the best and most effective services. The Institute's key responsibilities include evaluation of New York State youth justice initiatives, the accumulation and dissemination of information on national evidence-based practices and programs, grant writing and post-award administration, and the provision of technical assistance and trainings to youth justice practitioners and policymakers to enhance the outcomes for youth and young adults, families, and overall public safety throughout the state of New York.

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the Institute, the Director of Technical Assistance and Training will be part of the Institute's Management Team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate Degree (MA, MS or equivalent) in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Public Policy, Social Welfare, Education or a related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education, or internationally recognized accrediting organization, plus at least 7 years of progressive leadership and/or supervisory experience; or a Ph.D. in any of the above-mentioned fields plus a minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership and/or supervisory experience. At least 7 years' experience in either direct service to, research into, and/or technical assistance provision focused on at-risk or justice-involved youth or a combination thereof. At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in fiscal decision-making and administration. Substantive knowledge of best practice literature, evidence-based programming, and in-person and virtual training strategies. Demonstrated experience delivering relevant in-person and web-based training and training courses. Demonstrated ability to offer technical assistance related to youth and/or young adult focused research and best practice implementation. Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing professional documents. Demonstrated ability to provide research translation for diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to support the implementation of participatory action and similar research projects. Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a professional record of substantive training in and/or direct experience with race, ethnicity, and/or gender disparity issues. Knowledge of New York-specific regional needs in youth justice and preventative best practices. Demonstrated experience facilitating strategic meetings and workshops. Experience working within a team Record of working with a culturally diverse population, including individuals with direct experience in the youth legal justice system. Experience working in one or more of the following environments: government, academia, or the non-profit sector is essential. Proven experience developing and rolling out equity strategies, including measuring efficacy of programs and policies as it relates to systems' transformation in diverse equity dimensions.

Additional Information: Professional Rank and Salary Grade: Senior Staff Associate, SL5; $115,000-125,000.
