ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB's Albany, NY office is seeking a Highway Design Engineer to support our growing transportation practice. The selected candidate will work with a dynamic team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public and private projects with exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope. Our team uses its skills and experience to improve our communities with sustainable, context-driven and integrated project delivery approach. Responsibilities
- Pre-design project planning
- Design of highways and roads including development of geometric layout, grading and drainage
- Managing the development of technical design and specification documents
Skills and Attributes
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Traffic signal design experience a plus
- Open Roads and/or Civil3D
- Stormwater analysis
- Concept through final design plan development
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering required
- Minimum of 1-3 years design engineering experience
- Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
- Experience with/exposure to NYSDOT and municipal roadway improvement projects is preferred
- EIT preferred
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Albany, NY is $69,000-$76,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
