This position is a recruitment and data analyst role responsible for the classification and compensation and recruitment efforts. This includes but is not limited to researching and analyzing compensation for each position and making recommendations for fair and equitable compensation and classification. This position will work collaboratively with departments and leadership in supporting compensation, classification and recruiting strategies. This position will support and work with departments on job descriptions and other recruitment needs in collaboration with other University offices with a focus on professional staff appointments.

  • 50% of time: Determine appropriate classification and compensation for positions under the UUP professional bargaining unit and positions classified as Management/Confidential

    • Collect and research data and analyze position descriptions to determine appropriate grade level and title in accordance with SUNY classification standards. Work in partnership with departments to ensure that position duties are written to meet program needs. Provide feedback and recommendations.
    • Determine appropriate salary ranges based on position compensable factors, market data, and campus practices and use data to make recommendations.
    • Review requests for salary and position changes for current employees and determine appropriate action. Uses data to make informed decisions and recommendations in hiring, promoting, and making salary adjustments.
    • Work in partnership with division leadership regarding position classification and salary to ensure recommendations are supported by funding. Ensure recruitment activities support a diverse and equitable workforce and create/foster a welcoming, inclusive work environment.
    • Assist departments with organizational structure making recommendations based on classification and comps.
    • Review and revise job descriptions making recommendations as to classification and language to departments and assisting departments with their overall recruitment requests.
  • 15% of time-Engage in recruitment activities that bolster the applicant talent pool through collaborations with departments to assist in identifying their needs. Ensure all marketing and communication efforts include inclusive language. Creatively and strategically marketing open positions via means available such as social media, the UA website, popular job search websites, alumni networks, job boards specifically geared toward positions in higher education, and social media platforms. Attend events and career fairs to network and attract applicants highlighting UA as being a premier employer of choice. Community engagement both internally and externally to raise the awareness of UA as an employer of choice.

  • 5% of time-community service and engagement with the campus community that may entail but not be limited to serving on committees or working groups, attending events, and participating in activities that foster involvement.

  • 5% of time Complete and submit of the annual CUPA salary survey. Match UAlbany positions to survey title codes, normalize data per instructions, and compile institutional data.

  • 5% of time Complete hierarchy changes at the organizational level.

  • 5% of time Review and analyze positions against the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in the recruitment process ensuring FLSA compliance.

  • 5% of time Assist in managing the University's Applicant Tracking system. Train primary users, troubleshoot issues, and maintain access. Assist in training end users and assigning permissions.

  • 5% of time Ensure compliance with bargaining agreements and federal, state, and local law. Assist departments with understanding and navigating rules and regulations regarding classification and compensation and the search process.

  • 5% of time Other reasonable duties as assigned-If assigned supervisory duties: Provide leadership, oversight and direction to direct reports, if assigned direct reports, to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies. Lead employees for maximum performance and dedication. Complete performance management feedback and goals per requirements.

Job Requirements

  • The ability to utilize Business Intelligence solutions, databases, and Excel to write/run data queries, manipulate results, and monitor/audit personnel activity.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to constituents.

  • Ability to occasionally work extended hours as necessitated during peak volume periods, typically near the start of the fall academic semester.

  • Ability to use data analytics to inform decisions and forecast/predict employment needs.

  • Reports to Director of Workforce Planning

  • May supervise employees as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Data Analytics or related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated experience effectively communicating with various levels within a diverse organization.

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written skills in navigating complex and sensitive matters resulting in collegial and collaborative interactions.

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with stakeholders on recruitment matters.

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in compensation and classification in higher education.

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Personnel Associate; MP, $65,000-70,000
