General Surgery PA/NP

We are seeking an APP to partner with our surgical oncology or our minimally invasive surgery/bariatric surgery teams.

The Physician Assistant (PA) or the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a credentialed position required to function in and practice in an expanded specialty. The APP has the responsibility and accountability for the assessment and management of patients, including ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, therapeutic interventions and the daily implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care. Provides comprehensive healthcare sensitive to the needs of the population, including assessment, diagnosing, prescribing, and referrals where appropriate. Enabling patient choice in provision of care, complementing roles of MD and multidisciplinary team. The APP augments a physician's ability to provide medical services to patients; collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations and provide direct patient care services.

Duties and Responsibilities include, General Surgery PA/NP:

• Perform inpatient rounding on primary and postoperative patients

• Evaluate initial inpatient consults and perform daily follow-up visits for such consults

• Manage initial, follow-up and post-operative patient assessments in the outpatient setting

• Assist in operative cases

• Maintain outpatient and inpatient medical records of all patients seen

• Maintain regular communication with referring physicians to ensure smooth transitions of care

• Collaborate with residents/fellows on service

• Provide medical education to physician assistant, and medical students who are members of the team

• Participate as needed in quality and research initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited PA or NP program

• Board Certification

• NYS licensure

• DEA certification

• ACLS/BLS

• Graduation from an accredited PA or NP program
