PREFERENCES

  • Expansive business knowledge that may include accounting, auditing, finance, HR and other business disciplines.

  • Ability to establish close working relationships with other departments, outside vendors and consultants to gather information, discuss options, make proposals to get acceptance of recommendations, negotiate, training and coordinate production of results.

  • Extensive knowledge of PNMR accounting and budget systems and processes. Extensive knowledge in specialized systems such as Peoplesoft Financials, PowerPlant, Maximo, Document Management System.

  • Ability to analyze processes and recommend changes in systems and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

$50,991 - $67,562 - $84,134

Personnel in this job title may be covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. If the position is covered, prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also required.

SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, provides assistance to management and administers special projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conducts reviews of current operations, systems, or programs for efficiency and effectiveness

Recommends changes and improvements where appropriate

Serves as the functional unit or managerial unit Budget Coordinator

Monitors budget variance reports and budget changes for compliance with company policy and department budget guidelines

Acts as a liaison between the manager or executive and his or her direct reports

Oversees project plans and coordinates projects for management

Conducts month end closing including departmental charge backs

COMPETENCIES:

In-depth knowledge of project management principles, practices, and techniques

In-depth knowledge of budgeting systems and budget variance reporting

Excellent organization and planning skills

Ability to pay attention to detail

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED and five to six years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos

Ability to write correspondence

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software. including the ability to manipulate advanced spreadsheet models.

ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to identify and resolve problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to stand and walk up to 1/3 of the time and regularly required to sit up to 2/3 of the time and talk and listen for long periods of time. Manual dexterity and the ability to reach is required to perform computer applications and good vision is required to perform all aspects of the job. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office environment.

May require some travel.
