Summary About the Position: This position is with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Institute for Water Resources (IWR), Alexandria, VA. The position will be filled on a permanent basis. Responsibilities Serves as a Security Specialist; formulates local policy on handling of classified and Controlled Unclassified material in accordance with all applicable directives from higher authority. Serves as the installation technical expert regarding Information Security, advising all levels of management officials. Develops and presents information security briefings and training relative to new employees. Identifies intelligence and information security gaps, and participates in the development of operational programs. Coordinates with various employees and customers to enroll applicants into the Trusted Agent Sponsorship System to obtain Common Access Cards (CACs) and Volunteer Access Cards (VOLACs). To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Implements the Organization's security programs relative to physical security, antiterrorism, force protection, personnel security, information security, security education/training, and safety. Facilitates the review of initial background checks and interim clearance decisions for personnel working with the Organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service(GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Foreign Disclosure Information Security Personnel Security Public Safety and Security Security Program Management Vulnerabilities Assessment and Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
