Overview

Job Summary

Under general direction/supervision, responsible for accounting activities including analyzing accounting transactions & issues, preparing journal entries, preparing & analyzing financial reports and enhancing internal controls over various reporting requirements.

This position will be on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates accounting policies and procedures to reflect changes in business conditions, processes, and accounting guidance.

  • Prepares journal entries.

  • Prepares and analyzes financial statements and other internal/external financial reports.

  • Enhances internal controls over various reporting requirements.

  • Develops a thorough understanding of applicable financial and reporting systems, controls and interfaces, as well as understands how to efficiently obtain financial data from internal systems.

  • Continually look for ways to improve processes for greater effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Solve problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions.

  • Increases and applies knowledge in accounting guidance.

  • Supports ad hoc projects and requests.

Qualifications

Accountant:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business discipline with at least 3 accounting courses.

  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; use of Excel/Word is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

  • CPA or CMA exam eligible.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • 0-2 years related work experience, including co-operative/internship experience.

Staff Accountant:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business discipline with at least 3 accounting courses OR Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with at least 1 year of accounting-related experience.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; use of excel/word is required.

  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 2 to 4 years of accounting-related experience in public accounting, SEC reporting and a working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

  • CPA or CMA certification or MBA.

Senior Accountant:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business discipline with at least 3 accounting courses and 5 years accounting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 3-5 years of accounting-related experience.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; use of excel/word is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, MBA, or other advanced degree in business discipline.

  • CPA or CMA certification.

  • Experience in utility accounting, public accounting and SEC reporting and a working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to research technical accounting guidance.

  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills.
