Req# 29382 Aultman Health Foundation, ALLIANCE, OH ALLIANCE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL Aultman Health Foundation Casual - As Needed - No Benefits, Afternoon/Night rotating, 7.5 BASIC FUNCTION: The primary purpose of the Companion Care Support Personnel is to focus on the safety of the patient and communicate safety needs to the nursing staff. Companions will function within the scope of their current job position. JOB DUTIES: Provide safe environment for patients. Monitor patient from an arm's length distance. Document on companion care flow sheet and report to nurse. Monitor patient's needs for toileting and nourishment and notify appropriate staff. Redirect patient and engage in diversional activities. Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) as directed by the plan of care within scope of practice. Keep the room neat and orderly. Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with other staff to maintain adequate companion coverage. Understands and adheres to policies and regulations. Assist nursing to provide a safe environment for patients by visually monitoring patient and communicating any observed needs or changes in patient's behavior Accompany patient on all hospital transfers Responsible for checking emails and online learning assignments (Relias) on a regular basis. All other duties as assigned. EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: High school graduate, or equivalent, with ability to read and write. Ability to comprehend basic medical terminology. Age 18 or older. Receive CIDE education within 3 months of hire/transfer and maintain annual competency. Must be computer literate to complete task(s) as required. Such as MediTech (Hospital Support Software), Halogen (performance appraisal system) Relias (education system), ability to retrieve e-mails, complete online enrollment for health insurance/benefits and any other programs as assigned. SKILLS REQUIRED: Good physical and mental health, able to relate to patients, hospital staff and visitors; able to work efficiently under pressure. Display kind, caring communications with patient and colleagues PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to stand/walk/sit for up to 7.5 hours per shift. Able to bend to reach items on floor, bedside level; and stretch to reach over a bed. Able to lift 10 lbs. intermittently, unassisted. Ability to see clearly and hear normal speaking voices. Able to communicate verbally in person and by telephone with a clear concise speech. Dexterity to write legibly. Have a neat and clean appearance.
