Role Definition

Manages and Executes engineering for design and development of technologies, components, systems, and products for generator control switchgear human machine interface (HMI) applications.

Responsibilities

• Managing staffing, development, and performance of a HMI engineering team.

• Providing specialized engineering technical support and consulting services to various areas of the organization.

• Managing high-impact, short and long duration engineering initiatives; ensuring quality of HMI products and projects.

• Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software-programming for generator control switchgear human machine interface applications.

• Configures, programs and tests HMI hardware.

• Works with Power System Engineers to test, verify and adjust HMI programming.

• Supports HMI issues in the field and provides remote HMI installation support.

Degree Requirement

• Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum plus 3-5 years of experience or equivalent experience.

• Advises others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions.

• Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.

• Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.

• Coaches others in promoting, defining, analyzing, and providing superior technical solutions to business problems.

• Provides effective solutions to challenging technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.

• Assumes accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for theirs.

Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.

Level Basic Understanding:

• Describes the general processes and procedures involved in people management.

• Identifies the needs of the organization and employees; matches them to appropriate solutions.
