NOTE: We have a hybrid work week with three days in the office and two days working from home!

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO:

  • Ensure timely/accurate sales tax filings

  • Research state tax laws

  • Lead sales tax audit support and participate in year-end audit

  • Maintain and reconcile sales tax liability account

  • Monitor sales tax exemption certificates and state registrations

  • Assess sales taxes on fixed assets

  • Handle all applications for business permits

  • Property tax accrual

  • Process tax payments in a timely manner

  • Responsible for submitting revenue data to 3rd party vendor for sales tax filings

  • Reviews for accuracy the sales tax returns prior to filing

  • Proactively researches state tax laws to ensure compliance with sales tax filings and periodically updates for Nexus by state

  • Performs monthly analysis on meal broker sales tax adjustments

  • Prepares monthly reconciliation on sale tax liability account

  • Maintains and tracks sale tax exemption certificates

  • Responsible for business license applications

  • Partner with Facilities on construction permits

  • Reconcile property taxes and work with 3rd party vendor on accurate reporting

  • Facilitate the development and activation of processes, tools, and procedures for delivering accurate and timely monthly reporting of financial results, which help to optimize business operations and support quality decision making.

  • Prepare and provide financial information and support to outside auditors, governmental agencies, tax consultants and other organizations.

  • Support all accounting processes and systems, which ensure data integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the Company's financial records including internal and external reports and regulatory filings.

  • Focuses on process improvement by challenging and enhancing existing policies and procedures.

YOUR TRACK RECORD

Bachelor's in Finance or Accounting. CPA or CPA track a plus. 3+ years' experience with sales tax (or other corporate tax experience). Detail understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Ability to analyze and document financial results. Vertex or other comparable 3rd party sales tax software experience highly desirable. Microsoft Dynamics D365 accounting system and IBM Planning Analytic reporting software knowledge a plus. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and VLOOKUP formulas; some experience with Microsoft Access helpful. Retail and/or manufacturing experience preferred as well as experience with a company that is multi-location.
