The County of Potter needs qualified individuals to fill the following positions. Job Title: PRVTC Peer Support Specialist FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

This position will serve as a Peer Support Specialist for the Panhandle Regional Veterans Treatment Court (PRVTC), Functions below are considered essential functions: Military Service in the U.S. Armed Forces- DD-214 Verification Personal experience with Justice Involvement, Mental Health and/or Substance Use Recovery. Individual must be self-motivated. This is a new position for the PRVTC. Individual will be an integral part of developing our Specialty Courts Peer Services. Willing to network and train with other area Peer Supports. Be Proactive in seeking training and education in Peer Services. Could involve sitting in Peer Support Sessions from other agencies to gain further knowledge and understanding. Peer wellness and support services will be provided in either a group or individual setting. The Peer Support Specialist provides vision driven hope and encouragement to support people in their recovery and assist them in connecting to the community. Provides opportunities for individuals receiving services to direct their own recovery process and act as an advocate for the needs and rights of persons served. Will model competency in recovery and healthy coping skills and boundaries Participates in staff consultation and team meetings to learn effective strategies that promote Shared Decision making and recovery. Works with individuals one on one and in groups to provide recovery training and outreach to individuals who use the behavioral health services in the community. Provides opportunities for individuals receiving services to direct their own recovery process and act as an advocate for the needs and rights of persons served. Will model competency in recovery and healthy coping skills and boundaries Participates in staff consultation and team meetings to learn effective strategies that promote Shared Decision making and recovery. Works with individuals one on one and in groups to provide recovery training and outreach to individuals who use the behavioral health services in the community. Offer instruction and support to help people develop the skills they need to facilitate their individual recovery.

Salary: $45,000 (Grant Funded by Texas Veterans Commission-Renewed Annually. Current Grant is from July 2024-June 2025)

Minimum qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner. This position will require flexible work schedules to accommodate for the needs of participants in the program. High school diploma or GED and must have received mental health services for one (1) year cumulative, for a diagnosis that is treated in the target population for the state of Texas. Willing to become Credentialed as a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Valid Texas drivers license.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SERVICE (CJIS) CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK

All candidates selected for potential employment must undergo and pass a criminal justice information service (CJIS) criminal background check. Should an offer of employment be extended, a CJIS criminal background passing status must be maintained for the duration of employment with Potter County Facilities. All offers of employment are contingent upon the results of the CJIS criminal background check. Failure to maintain a passing CJIS criminal background will result in the termination of Potter County Facilities employees.
