Robert Half Senior Manager of External Communications in Ames, Iowa

Description

The Senior Manager of External Communications is responsible for developing and executing the communication strategies, programs, and tactics to increase awareness and reputation for our client's brand. This candidate also understands media relations and content integration and leverages insights to create campaigns that promote Workiva, its brand, its innovative solutions, and its thought leaders across multiple channels. The ideal candidate is a communications professional with strong writing, communications, and project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex technical topics into compelling stories.

Responsibilities

● Media relations - successful track record working with business and tech media, able to craft compelling narratives and pitches anchored in proof points and data to generate high-quality media coverage of our client's innovative technology, events, and solutions in key trade and global top-tier business outlets to help drive stakeholder engagement and business growth. Understand the evolving media landscape and how best to secure media coverage related to SaaS, global technology, and top-tier business outlets.

● Program management - work seamlessly with cross-functional teams to drive impactful communication programs that resonate with business, tech, and industry media. Utilize owned, earned, and social channels for maximum reach and engagement. Partner with the Communications Director and PR agency to assist in the production of a successful and engaging podcast.

● Content creator - excellent verbal and written skills to independently develop messaging and write news releases and bylines for executives or in partnership with industry principals and subject matter experts. Able to translate complex information into engaging content and stories to engage and educate key audiences.

● Thought leadership - experience in executing thought leadership opportunities for our C-suite and preparing executive speakers and industry principals for interviews and events

● Measurement - assess campaign performance, measuring against campaign goals (ROI and KPIs), and help the team and agency partners optimize via insightful actions and recommendations for further impact.

What You'll Need

● Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.

● 10+ years of experience in executing large, cross-channel communication activations with measurable results, ideally in SaaS or tech.

● Expertise in message development and end-to-end communications planning.

● Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated through working cross-functionally with key global stakeholders to achieve stated goals.

● Big picture thinker passionate about storytelling with strong written and verbal communication skills.

● A creative, results-oriented, resourceful, and resilient self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment where initiative and innovation are required and enjoys solving complex business problems while working effectively within a high-performing international team with evolving priorities and rapidly changing timelines

● Travel Requirement - Less than 10% travel
