Join us at Ames CSD, where your talents are recognized, and you have the opportunity to grow in a supportive and dynamic community.The Ames Multi-purpose Educational Services (AMES) Center seeks a Therapeutic Learning Professional for the 2024-2025 school year. Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Provides direct social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health support to students in Therapeutic Classrooms.

  • Provides targeted social and emotional interventions in small group and/or one-on-one instructional settings.

  • Supports teachers in implementing research-based strategies with fidelity to improve students’ social and emotional skills.

  • Assists families in securing wraparound mental health services for students in Therapeutic Classrooms.

  • Coordinates with families, community mental health providers, health providers, and teachers to ensure alignment in therapeutic approaches for students in Therapeutic Classrooms.

  • Provides training and support to teachers on the critical features and essential practices of trauma-sensitive instructional approaches.

  • Participates in regular professional development to improve personal knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:

  • Statement of Professional Recognition: School Social Worker or School Psychologist

  • Special Education and Challenging Behavior Experience preferred.
