Summary:

The position requires a dynamic individual with an environmental science, geology, biology, chemistry, or civil engineering background, the ability to work flexible hours (but primarily Monday through Friday), and a willingness to travel periodically. The position will be extremely active and will include a variety of field assignments and office work. Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations is a plus, as well as technical writing skills. The position requires an individual who is looking to advance their career opportunities and would like to be involved with a diversity of assignments including, but not limited to, collecting, synthesizing, and documentation of data from investigated areas and assisting in the preparation of project documentation. Will provide support for field activities as needed for projects, which may include field site supervision, excavations, and collection of field samples for laboratory analysis. This position requires 50% travel.

The salary range for this position is $74,802-$115,431/year, please note this is a tiered position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - All Levels: (including but not limited to)

  • Conduct and oversee site investigation and assessments in accordance with Federal and State regulatory guidelines and as directed by project management staff

  • Determine data collection methods to be employed in site surveys and investigations

  • Collect and interpret environmental sampling data and provide field consultations
  • Read specifications such as GIS and CAD figures to determine project requirements and to help in planning procedures
  • Prepare technical plans and reports using Federal and State guidelines
  • Adhere to schedule and financial objectives as specified by project management
  • Identify and evaluate corrective actions for individual or groups of sites
  • Enhance company and organization reputation by accepting ownership for the team performance and adding value to assigned tasks
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, coordination, and/or oversight to project staff preparing written project documentation
  • Review and document the processes necessary to obtain environmental permits, licenses, and other requirements necessary to achieve environmental restoration project objectives
  • Review and document environmental technical standards, guidelines, policies, and formal regulations to ensure proposals meet all appropriate requirements
  • Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that project specifications are met
  • Record information such as personnel, production, and operational data on specified forms and reports; communicate with project management
  • Prepare charts, graphs, or figures from sample data, providing summary information on the environmental relevance of the data
  • Meeting safety responsibilities and goals
  • Achieving quality requirements
  • Understanding best management practices as they relate to environmental investigations
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by management

Level Specific Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to)

Level - III

  • Provide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on projects
  • Maintain 2 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead teams performing project tasks, both in the office and field locations
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
  • Assist with task order and project bid proposals
  • Project staffing and technical mentoring
  • Manage smaller projects involving site characterization, long-term monitoring, and similar tasks
  • 20% - 40% of time may be spent conducting fieldwork, potentially in remote locations

Level - Senior

  • Provide client assistance to pr gram and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on
  • Maintain 2-3 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, senior review project documents
  • Prepare task orders and project bid proposals
  • Project staffing and technical mentoring
  • Manage projects involving site characterization, long-term monitoring, and similar tasks
  • 10% - 25% of time may be spent conducting fieldwork, potentially in remote locations

Minimum Qualifications:

All levels:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical/Environmental Sciences or similarly related field
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record, able to drive company vehicle
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and databases such as Access and PowerPoint
  • Adept at explaining technical aspects of fieldwork to internal and external clients verbally and in writing

Level - III

  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of relevant working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Level - Senior

  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience
  • Certified Environmental Professional or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER

  • 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher

  • CPR/1^st^ Aid Certified
  • Experience working on projects with Federal clients
  • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
