What You'll Do

The University of Michigan Medical School department of Medical School Facilities invites applications for the position of Business Systems Analyst Senior/Business Systems Analyst Intermediate to manage business systems supporting Medical School Facilities with a primary role in access control and other security related software and hardware. The position reports to the Facility Safety Services Lead, Medical School Facilities (MSF).

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service and technical skills and the ability to communicate clearly across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and as a critical member of a team. This position will service customers across the Medical School located in nearly 4 million square feet of space. As a member of the Operations team, you will participate in the response to customer needs on weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities*

  • Responsible for all activities and technical guidance for planning, supervising, monitoring, and maintaining systems operations for Medical School Facilities.

  • Function as the department liaison for standards implementation.

  • Function as the point of contact and business owner for Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) relating to infrastructure planning, system conditions, and Network Admission

  • Control (NAC) portal registration for Medical School Facilities equipment.

  • Coordinate corrective and preventative maintenance of systems with stakeholders and maintenance vendors.

  • Manage the inventory and asset life cycle of equipment deployed within Medical School buildings including procurement and disposal.

  • Manage key boxes including installations, moves, updates, access, and audits.

  • Coordinate 800mhz radio services with campus service providers for Medical School Facilities radios.

  • Manage access profiles for the Medical School across two access systems and audit access profiles on a periodic basis.

  • Troubleshoot access situations and advise MCard offices on Medical School access philosophies.

  • Coordinate keying strategies with service providers related to master and space key allocation.

  • Participate in emergency response related to Medical School Facilities systems and operations activity as needed after hours and on weekends.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Senior level : 5 Years of direct experience managing and troubleshooting business applications, access control, and/or surveillance systems.

  • A cover letter as first page of resume explaining qualifications and interest in the position

  • Working knowledge of workflow management tools and ticketing systems.

  • Experience with access control software and associated hardware.

  • Experience in a customer service position demonstrating positive customer outcomes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of software including Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and associated keyboarding skills.

  • Intermediate level: All of the above with LESS than 5 Years of direct experience managing and troubleshooting business applications, access control, and/or surveillance systems.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience working with the U-M Division of Public Safety and Security to develop solutions related to access and security issues.

  • Knowledge of Michigan Medicine and Medical school policies/procedures and organizational structures.

  • Experience with internet protocol, analog, and/or digital surveillance systems.

  • Experience with C-Cure 9000 access software and associated hardware.

  • Experience with University of Michigan systems (Business Objects, M-Pathways, Service Now, etc.).

  • Familiarity with an academic medical center operation and associated business.

  • Experience managing and planning budgets related to business systems, access control, surveillance, and operations systems.

  • Excellent organizational skills, including time management, project management and attention to detail.

  • Ability to assess competing priorities, manage workflow, and meet operational deadlines in a complex matrixed environment.

  • Ability to work and communicate within a team environment, as well as independently with limited direction or oversight.

Work Locations

This position supports operations in all buildings the medical school occupies across nearly four million square feet. There is an expectation that a significant amount of time on campus will be required to manage the job requirements and for onsite meetings, planning efforts, and other activities. There will be times that it will be appropriate to work from home. The position may require working during non-business hours and on weekends.

Underfill Statement

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Candidates with less than 5 years experience will qualify for a Business Systems Analyst Intermediate level.
