Summary
The Coordinator of Student Success Technology will provide functional management for technology solutions that support student success in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. The coordinator will utilize deep advising and student success expertise to work collaboratively with the LSA Technology Services professionals that support the technical aspects of student success applications. This role will support the planning, execution, and operations of projects aimed at enhancing the academic experience of students through the use of technology. This role requires a blend of functional knowledge, technical knowledge, educational insight, and project management skills.
An existing suite of technology platforms and emerging/planned solutions will be part of this portfolio including academic advising, student records, communication tools, AI platforms, and other emerging solutions. Supporting project management, identification, and implementation of new solutions toward an integrated student success technology ecosystem will also be part of this position. These systems support crucial functions and services for over 19,000 students in LSA, thousands of students across campus, and 950 staff/faculty users.
The role will serve as the functional lead for student success technologies while working closely with a project manager and LSA Technology Services who will provide technical leadership for these platforms. Close collaborations with university Information and Technology Services, the Center for Academic Innovation, advising units, and student success leaders across campus will also be crucial to this role. The position will report to the Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs while working closely with the Director of Newnan Academic Advising and the Director of Student Academic Affairs.
Responsibilities*
Functional leadership of technology solutions (40%)
Functional leadership of the LSA Advising E-File, appointment system, AI tools, other integrated applications, and future applications
Work regularly with LSA Technology Services to collaboratively govern application decisions such as modifications, requests, and maintenance.
Coordinate with LSA Student Academic Affairs, Newnan Advising, advising units, and departments to continually improve systems, troubleshoot, and support end-user requests
Govern user access and manage users in partnership with the Administrative Assistant
Build relationships with campus stakeholders that use LSA student success technologies, including other schools and colleges, to communicate and partner with them on their specific needs
Project management and implementation support (40%)
Provide functional support for projects of cross-functional teams to implement new technologies in support of student success
Provide academic advising and student records functional expertise to technical projects
Support project management in collaboration with LSA Technology Services, LSA stakeholders, and campus stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions
Collaboratively gather requirements for new technology
Consult with stakeholders to develop community input and engagement
Develop project plans and proposals as needed for new project implementation
Communicate with leadership and stakeholders about project progress and needs
Service to LSA and Student Success Initiatives (20%)
Identify opportunities for technology to support the needs of students and the college's student success goals
Serve as the primary LSA liaison to the Advising Council of the University of Michigan Technology Subcommittee, and other campus committees as appropriate
Support university-wide student success initiatives by ensuring technology solutions are appropriately aligned with goals
Represent LSA on related committees, task forces, and working groups
Supervision Received
General supervision and support are received from the Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs.
Required Qualifications*
Master's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Self-motivated, highly dependable worker with the ability to efficiently and effectively multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve
Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of staff, faculty, and students
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations that require demonstrated poise, tact, confidentiality, and diplomacy
Desired Qualifications*
Experience in academic advising, student records, and student success in higher education
Experience with student information, CRM, and degree auditing software
Experience advancing complex projects in a decentralized environment
Technology evaluation or implementation experience
Project management experience and/or training
Evidence of successful collaboration with various stakeholders, such as IT professionals, academic staff, students, and external vendors.
Experience in change management to help guide organizations through transitions, particularly those involving the adoption of new technologies or processes.
