TheDivision of Languages and Literatures and the Middle Eastern Studies (MES) program (https://langlit.bard.edu/) at Bard College seeks applicants for a 1-year part-time visiting position teaching Arabic language, literature, and culture (at the rank of either assistant professor or lecturer level).

We are looking for a recent PhD or ABD in Arabic literature and culture from any period to contribute to a dynamic and growing MES program. The successful candidate will have native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English, and experience teaching Arabic, preferably in both formal and colloquial registers, across all levels.

We welcome applications from candidates with a research focus on Arabic Linguistics, Classical or Modern Arabic poetry; comparative Arabic-Hebrew, Arabic-Urdu, or Arabic-Turkish training; Arabic storytelling and folklore.

The position involves teaching one Arabic-language course each semester, with the possibility of adding more courses in the Spring Semester.

Compensation:$23,333

This salary reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
