At Johnson & Johnson, we all belong.

The J&J IM Discovery, Product Development, & Supply (DPDS) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program helps early career scientists gain the training and experience needed to further their careers while addressing the needs of global healthcare. Postdocs work side-by-side with DPDS scientists on innovative research projects and have the opportunity to present and publish their work. They also learn the functional role of scientists in the pharmaceutical industry and receive valuable career advice from mentors while building a network of professional contacts and developing the skills needed to advance their careers.

As part of the DPDS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, we are seeking a talented Postdoc scientist to join our Discovery Pharmaceutics team, which is part of the global Pharmaceutical Product Development & Supply (PPDS) organization within Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine to be based in Beerse, Antwerp, Belgium. Our Discovery-facing team is providing end-to-end pharmaceutical development support to the Discovery organization from Hit-to-Lead through identification and selection of clinical assets, across a diverse portfolio of small and large molecules, and across a range of drug delivery modalities.

This 2-year Postdoc program will focus on the exciting field of Long Acting Injectable (LAI) drug delivery. Your mission as a Postdoc fellow will be to investigate new LAI formulation platforms and build end-to-end LAI drug delivery capabilities for conventional small molecules and peptides, for in vivo application preclinical drug discovery and in early drug development space.

As a Postdoc scientist, you will operate under some supervision with a high level of autonomy to transform drug delivery challenges into innovative ideas and practical solutions consistent with project objectives. You will be tasked with drafting critical research questions, and with the ideation, design, planning and execution of experiments to address those. Activities in scope will include new screening assay development, manufacturing process exploration, formulation engineering and characterization and analytical development. On the job training will be provided by qualified staff. Additionally, you will be authoring reports and scientific publications and present data to the scientific community internally and externally.

Within this role, you will uniquely operate in a matrix environment at the interface with several disciplines in Discovery and in Development. You will closely collaborate with and learn from senior associates, as well as interact with external partners.

This position will require hands-on lab work, while offering ample scientific leadership and personal growth opportunities through training, mentoring and R&D-wide connectivity.
