Position Purpose

Plamann Park has 257 acres of scenic hills and trails. The park offers many activities that you will discover as you browse through the website. We are located north of Appleton, Wisconsin at 1375 East Broadway Drive between North Meade Street and North Ballard Road (County Road E).

We are hiring a Seasonal Tree Technician!The Seasonal Tree Technician assists with tree/shrub planting and maintenance with the Parks Department.

This is a seasonal role working with the Outagamie County Parks Department. The expected start date is the middle of May.This position is not eligible for benefits.

**The hours for this role are: Monday - Friday 7am-3:30 pm

**Pay is $13.52/hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares and plants trees and shrubs according to species, transplanting technique and location.

  • Cares for trees and shrubs post-planting by placing mulch, staking, and watering as needed.

  • Restores area around trees post-planting.

  • Trims trees and chips brush as needed.

  • May operate equipment to assist with planting if ability and qualifications allow.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old or older

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Experience with tree planting/care preferred.

Required or Preferred Skills

  • Must have the ability to lift items of 50 lbs. or more several times per shift.

  • Ability to perform work from a standing, walking, or sitting position throughout the bulk of the shift.

  • Demonstrated ability to comply with appropriate safety regulations.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English and understand and follow written and oral instruction.

  • Ability to work semi-independently, make sound decisions, and use good judgement.

  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with co-workers, park guests, general public, etc.

  • Demonstrated reliability in attendance and flexibility to work hours.

  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for short periods of time under extreme temperatures.

  • Full dexterity in both hands and feet.
