Drug Enforcement Administration Supervisory Attorney Advisor in Arlington, Virginia

Summary The Office of Compliance (AC) is responsible for leading DEA's enterprise risk management program. AC communicates and integrates compliance principles at all levels, and performs compliance reviews seeking to assess, identify, and mitigate risks. This involves working with stakeholders and subject matter experts across the agency to isolate weaknesses, analyze compliance gaps, and conduct risk assessments of agency programs and policies. Responsibilities The incumbent will serve as the Section Chief over the Compliance Section within AC: Integrates compliance risk analysis and mitigation practices within DEA business processes. Ensures non-retaliation policies are enforced for all employees reporting compliance concerns, maintaining communication with field divisions, and identifying and tracking compliance trends. Facilitates discussions among key stakeholders to assess the control environment and identify weaknesses as well as develop written analysis reports and mitigation plans. Works with the Chief Compliance Officer to ensure that compliance risk management processes are in place by training and communicating risk management principles. Establishes policy for compliance risk identification to develop strategies for the compliance program. Identifies initiatives and measures for each fiscal year, assigns tasks, and monitors employees' progress toward the completion of tasks. Advises on questions pertaining to compliance and risk management at DEA. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications All applicants must be an active member of a bar in good standing (any jurisdiction) and possess: 1) a J.D. degree; 2) excellent academic credentials; 3) strong oral and written advocacy skills; 4) superior legal research and analytical skills; and 5) a demonstrated ability to function with minimal guidance in a highly demanding environment.
