What the job involves
With the current manager moving into a senior leadership role, we are now seeking a new leader for our district’s planning activity. You will lead your high performing team with confidence to deliver great results across the policy, consents, and compliance areas. You’ll have the opportunity to identify and implement improvements and to be a key part of the future of the District, as well taking advantage of the opportunity to build and maintain relationships with other Councils, Iwi and national stakeholders. This role will guarantee you diversity of work, challenge and the direct opportunity to make a real difference for our community.

Who are we looking for?
A planning professional with significant experience and supervisory or ideally management experienced and an industry relevant degree. We are after a team player who demonstrates conceptual and analytical ability and who can make legally sound, yet pragmatic recommendations and decisions. You will set high standards for yourself and others and will thrive in a role which requires you to build, maintain and lead a high performing team as well as forging new and maintaining existing relations with both internal and stakeholders at local, regional and national level.
Flexibility is a must as on any day you might be dealing with policy development, budgeting, signing off consents or any number of other matters.
