ODJFS Custodian in Ashtabula, Ohio
The First Presbyterian Church of Ashtabula is seeking a Custodian. Job Description:
- Open and close church Sunday morning 9:30 am to 12:15.
- Put up the sermon tile for Sunday worship service on the marque in the front of the sanctuary.
- Change burned out light bulbs throughout.
- Pick up church grounds daily.
- Help with event set ups and tear downs.
- Put up signage for the Red Cross when they have a blood drive event.
- Straighten up hymnals in the pews.
- Monitor buildings and grounds throughout and report problems to the secretary.
- Dust shelving and ledges not done by the cleaning service.
- Wash windows as needed.
- Set sanctuary thermostat as needed and/or per season.
- Rake leaves.
- Pull staples in the manse where rug was located.
- Assist contractors as needed.
- Make tripe to the sanctuary from the CEB to carry over needed supplies and items.
- Complement the housekeepers insofar as cleaning not set by their contract.
- Assist the church secretary as needed.
- Insure that walkways and hallways are safe-no spills, tripping hazards, etc.
- Maintain the mulch pile out back.
- Assist church members in carrying items from their car to the CDB.
- Change smoke alarm and motion detector alarms as necessary.
Desired Skills: Ability to work independently while assisting church secretary as needed. Pleasant personality and ability to relate with church members. Can reason and diagnose problems; reporting problems status to Session Head, Building and Grounds. Ability to follow directions.
