Marcus Autism Center is conducting a search for a clinical psychologist with specialization in early identification, screening, diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related neurodevelopmental disorders from birth through 21 years. This position primarily focuses on a split between diagnostic assessment and intervention. Treatment possibilities include early intervention with programs such as Project ImPACT, treatment of co-occurring anxiety with programs such as Facing your Fears and Coping Cats as well as other intervention possibilities such as treatment for co-occurring depression, executive functioning deficits and social skills training. The program stresses providing caregivers with an initial understanding of ASD and developing empirically supported treatment recommendations.

We are seeking individuals who are interested in providing a high level of clinical care and who are interested in contributing to innovative early intervention, treatment of co-occurring conditions and assessment. The psychologist will join a multidisciplinary intervention and assessment team that includes professionals from psychology, speech/language pathology, medicine, and social work. The position may involve supervision of trainees at the practicum, predoctoral, and postdoctoral level.

Successful candidates will be well-trained, possess a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, school psychology, or a related field and have completed an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship. Ideal candidates will have clinical training/background in early intervention programs, such as Project ImPACT, other intervention programs such as Facing Your Fears, PEERS and assessment of toddlers and preschoolers and be research reliable in administering the ADOS-2. In-house training and re-specialization are possible for competitive applications. Candidates must be license-eligible to practice as a psychologist in the state of Georgia.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A Psychologist supports and enhances the mission of the Division and Children's by providing high quality patient care in an effective and efficient manner.

  1. Clinical Service:

  2. Provides patient care that complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children's policies and procedures.

  3. Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and empirically validated research findings into practice.

  4. Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.

  5. Provides an authenticated report of all services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.

  6. Completes necessary documentation and ensures communication in a timely manner to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.

  7. Provides supervision as appropriate to allied health providers and/or support staff in the clinical area.

  8. Demonstrates a commitment to a model of care centered on inter-professional and collaborative teams of service delivery.

  11. Actively supports research activities underway at Marcus Autism Center.

  12. Teaching:

  13. Provides direct supervision for trainees, ensuring adequate opportunities for training through teaching, patient contact, case review and research.

  15. Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area and the organization overall.

  16. Participates in activities that enhance professional development.

  17. Completes and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the assigned area.

M INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD or PsyD.

  • License-eligible or licensed to practice as psychologist in the state of Georgia.

  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship.

  • Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member.
