About the role:

The Paralegal for Claims & Operations will report to the Chief Claims & Operations Legal Officer and will primarily work with the Claims department and Special Investigation Unit (“SIU”) to prepare state regulatory filings.

Primary responsibilities for this position include :

  • Support state licensing activities for individual insurance adjusters and for the AIG entities that manage insurance claims

  • Collect, review, and prepare documents for productions to regulators and law enforcement

  • Prepare privilege logs

  • Research federal litigation docket in PACER, including with regard to the status of bankruptcy filings by insurance policyholders

  • Assist with the implementation of internal controls associated with the payment of claims during bankruptcy stays

  • Prepare director and officer biographical affidavits to comply with National Association of Insurance Commissioner requirements

  • Perform other related duties and ad hoc projects as required, including working with attorneys who work on procurement and real estate transactions

  • This is a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office

    The ideal candidate will possess the following :

  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate

  • 1+ year of paralegal experience with a law firm or corporate legal department

  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision

  • Must be collaborative, highly organized, able to multi-task, deadline oriented, and able to interact with senior leaders

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Prior experience with a property and casualty insurance company preferred, but not required

  • Prior experience with state insurance regulations a plus
