Virology and Molecular Biology Postdoctoral Fellow

Gordon Lab - Emory University, Atlanta USA

Position Description:

The Gordon Laboratory seeks a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to spearhead cutting-edge experimental genetics studies focusing on virus infection and immune function .Our lab applies advanced CRISPR and proteomics techniques to gain mechanistic insights into human disease and explore novel immunotherapeutic and antiviral approaches.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Molecular biology and experimental genetics (siRNA, CRISPR, PCR, DNA cloning, etc)

  • Virology expertise and/or handling of blood borne pathogens

  • Mammalian tissue culture experience

  • Transfection, viral transduction, and/or electroporation of genetic material.

  • DNA sequence analysis (Snapgene, Geneious or other DNA analysis tools)

  • Statistical training and/or experience analyzing of large datasets (optional)

The Gordon Lab pioneers advanced experimental and computational approaches to map functional pathways, focusing on viral pathogenesis and immunology . Located next to the CDC, with ample access to BSL facilities at Emory, we are located at a nexus of infectious disease research, and our location in the Emory Vaccine Center with the Pathology Translational Research Unit provides extraordinary collaboration opportunities with world-leading immunologists. Furthermore, our affiliation with Georgia Tech through the Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering enables transformative collaborations in technology development. Lastly, our affiliation with therapeutic development programs such as the Winship Cancer Center Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Program translates our research into therapeutic approaches. Our research program includes both academic and industry collaborations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
