Description:

Position Purpose: As a Compliance Specialist at Mercy Care Atlanta, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a safer environment by mitigating risks for all individuals within the organization. Reporting to the Manager of Quality and Compliance, you will serve as a key resource on medical/legal concerns, supporting our mission to maintain patient safety, enhance quality care, and protect facility assets.

What You Will Do:

  • Facilitate risk management activities including loss control and prevention.

  • Review daily MIDAS risk events and refer to leadership as needed.

  • Direct investigations and reporting of events.

  • Conduct causal analysis investigations and guide corrective action planning.

  • Collect, evaluate, and distribute data on patient events; present quarterly reports to multidisciplinary groups.

  • Develop and implement educational materials on risk management for leadership, medical staff, and department personnel.

  • Recommend revisions to policies and procedures to adhere to current standards and mitigate risks.

  • Conduct surveys and studies for long-term planning and policy/system changes.

  • Support liability claims and risk financing.

  • Participate in evaluation of claims for settlement or risk adjustment.

  • Coordinate the renewal of insurance policies and maintain related documentation.

  • Organize and supervise compliance site visits and audits.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Certification (CPHRM) required within 3 years of employment.

  • 4-8 years of experience in risk management preferred; RN or legal experience is a plus.

  • Comfort using data to drive change/improvement.
