HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:

Experienced technical designer leader with the ability to drive performance of a team and contribute to overall team strategy.

- 35%: Development Tasks

o Responsible for timeline adherence by ensuring all T/P for all product categories are delivered to development partners on time

o Monitor development process to meet calendar deadlines and work closely with cross functional partners

o Administer library of patterns and blocks

o Approve block patterns

o Determine which blocks need to be update, eliminated, or added

o Benchmark pattern studies for competitor brands, analyze results and share with Technical Design leaders and cross functional partners

o Lead communication with cross functional partners (Design, Merch, Quality and PDC), representing the interests of the Technical Design team

o Act as key sponsor for Technical Design initiatives in partnership with cross functional teams

o Manage the development workload and meeting timeline

- 15% Fit Reviews

o Lead projects related to grading, construction, etc.

o Collaborate with CGS TD and cross functional teams (i.e. Manufacturing Excellence, Quality Assurance, etc.) to determine minimum construction standards

o Establish and validate fit standards

o Champion best practices in fit standards and process

o Supervise key fittings to ensure standardization and timely fit samples approval, offering support and guidance to team members

o Identify and conduct root cause analysis of product failures

o Build approval process and generic placement manual

o Facilitate discussion with Design for process opportunities, product issues, and solutions

o Liaise with cross functional teams to find solutions for potential risk constructions, offering technical solutions

- 20% Coaching & Leadership

o Supervise the operations of the team in accordance with protocol and practices set out by leadership

o Develop Technical Design operational plan including manpower requirements, hiring structure and process, policy and operating procedure

o Mentor and assist managers with coaching implementation

- 10% Projects

o Plan and deliver Technical Design initiatives

o Provide effective status reporting, project budget management and timeline management

o Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders in accomplishing project objectives

o Provide technical support and expert advice on discipline-related issues to other members of the project team as well as to in-house staff on of other divisions

- 10% Reporting

o Anticipate, communicate, and mitigate risks/escalations to deliver a great fit, measured by KPI’s

o Act as the voice of the consumer and other quality reports

o Meet or exceed Technical Design productivity and quality metrics as related to established KPI’s, setting high expectations and standards for the team

- 10% Strategy

o Assist in building and support the implementation of strategy as aligned with Technical Design leadership

o Align with Sourcing strategy in terms of product, CO, and vendor base

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF: (REQUIREMENTS SECTION) Must have:

  • Strong technical Design expertise, pattern and grading. Preferably experience in children wear

  • Strong partnership with cross functional teams

  • Strong pattern making skills

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Textiles or Fashion Design University degree, preferred (or equivalent years of experience)

  • Minimum 15 years of technical experience - 5 years of managerial experience preferred

  • Ability to travel upon request (internationally)
