Universal Health Services TRANSPORTER in ATLANTA, Georgia

Responsibilities

Laurel Heights Hospital located in Atlanta Georgia has a Transporter position available. Laurel Heights Hospital is an intensive Residential Treatment/Acute and Autism Spectrum Disorders Program for children and adolescents. We serve and treat severe and complex psychiatric and behavioral difficulties and co-occurring psychiatric issues. EOE.

  • Providing transportation services as needed and /or directed.

  • Provide transportation for psychiatric patients (https://southwindspoint.activebuilding.com/portal/payments/external) to and from the facility.

  • Transport patients on all assigned trips as appropriate, to and from appointments.

  • Responsible for all vehicle transportation, maintenance logs, registrations and updated insurance cards.

  • Maintain GA DDS driver updates

  • Reports all van maintenance problems to the maintenance coordinator and Director of Plant Operations.

  • Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance; basic auto repair skills, such as ability to change a flat tire, ability to check fluid levels and add fluids, ability to check tire inflation, etc,

  • Ability to maintain composure while driving patients during rush hour on local freeways, streets and highways;

  • Provide passengers with assistance entering and exiting vehicles.

  • Follows all laws while in a vehicle established by Law Enforcement-Follows all traffic laws while in a vehicle.

  • Keeps all vehicles clean. Reports all safety issues with vehicles to supervisor.

  • Communicate and consult with the Residential Manager and COO regarding patient care issues and information, as needed.

  • Monitors client activities on the unit to ensure compliance with the Program and Institute Rules and Regulations;

  • Answers all calls and directs accordingly

  • Maintain a clean environment for patients at all times.

  • Demonstrate responsibility and sound judgment regarding patient safety.

  • Maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer service interactions

  • Monitor patients’ physical and emotional well-being and report unusual behavior or physical ailments to medical staff.

  • Flexible in work hours in order to meet patient and organization operating needs

  • Assist with patient care needs as needed

  • Comply with facility’s policies and procedures

  • All other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Must have prior experience transporting psychiatric patients.
