Examples of Duties
Facilitates ordering of food products, produce, vegetables, dry goods, and kitchen sanitation supplies for the Academy of Culinary Arts (“ACA”) and meets the standards of the ACA Program
Performs research on products and obtains quotes from food and supply vendors
Negotiates competitive prices and assures the highest quality of products
Follows prescribed college policies, New Jersey County College Law, and regulations of various State of New Jersey agencies in evaluating purchases
Insures the proper method of purchase for all products and goods in accordance with guidelines currently in effect
Meets regularly with the Director of the Academy of Culinary Arts to ensure compliance with the program(s)
Provides oversight of the perishable storeroom and maintains adequate supply levels of necessary products
Provides support for the Chef Educators to ensure all products are available for each culinary block
Assists with providing an educational opportunity and experience for students of the ACA as part of the curriculum and professional development
Interfaces with faculty, students and staff
Adheres to financial budgets established for the ACA
Provides continuous quality improvement recommendations to senior management
Responsible for accurately recording inventory purchases and fulfillment in the Culinary Software (food service software) system
Works closely with Purchasing, Accounts Payable and Finance to resolve variances in purchase orders and invoices to ensure proper payment to vendors
Performs mid year and fiscal year end physical inventory of the perishable storeroom
Maintains a contact list of vendor and minimum order size for each vendor
Assists with culinary events as needed including but not limited to the Restaurant Gala
Assist in the preparation and production of food carts, when necessary
Performs related duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
Education:
Associate’s degree with food and beverage purchasing/sales experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience:
Minimum of three years of food and realted goods experience
Experience working with food service software such as ChefTec preferred
Competencies and Skills:
Demonstrated ability to give attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and maintain quality customer service
Knowledge of meats, poultry, fish products, vegetables and dry goods
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Knowledge of administrative financial systems
Knowledge of Ellucian’s Colleague system a plus

- This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.
