THE POSITION

Sr Electrical Engineer, Continental Automotive Systems, Inc., Auburn Hills, MI:

Design electrical components and systems in automotives for commercial use. Perform electromagnetic compatibly testing (EMC) - conduct internal testing for products on development for validation and propose changes in the circuits in response to testing failure. Act as Hardware project lead for projects, ensuring technical and administrative issues are properly addressed. Troubleshoot warranty returns by using bench test and calculation techniques to find the root cause of an issue and propose fast and efficient solutions. Engage in system-level validation by following test plans, capturing data, creating reports and conveying test results to other teams. Perform worst case analysis based on calculations of circuit blocks to ensure design will behave as expected with the worst tolerances of the components. Create and review electrical engineering and EMC test plans according to customer and internal guidelines. Evaluate potential cost reductions through RE-DTC (redesign to cost) workshops. Participate in technical reviews.

 

Full time employment, Monday -- Friday, 40 hours per week.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus 2 years of related work experience.

 

Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

 

  • Providing the software team with hardware and software interface specifications;
  • Performing EE testing using equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, signal generators, power analyzers, EMC transient rack and active loads;
  • Performing worst case circuit analysis using simulations programs (including PSPICE, SABER and LTSPICE) and MathCAD;
  • Designing power supply circuits, including Boost and Buck DC-DC converters;
  • Designing analog circuits;
  • Troubleshooting and solving problems in EE design, manufacturing and component defects;
  • Using electronic schematic capture, including Zuken, Mentor and Altium;
  • Designing circuit blocks related to the activation of front and rear automotive lighting;
  • Supporting EMC validation as defined by customer EMC requirements, including FMC1278(Ford) and GMW3097(GM) specifications; and
  • Performing system-level electrical testing.
