Director of Financial Planning & Analysis - Consumer

At Realtor.com®, our goal is to develop and maintain a highly functioning team of Business Unit and Functional financial experts who provide rigorous financial advice, contextualized by our company strategies, to all corners of our company. Beyond reporting and number aggregation, FP&A team members deep-dive into model building and value-driving analytics, craft the story that is embedded in the numbers, and be the financial advisor for our business partners. You will have the opportunity to develop your qualitative and quantitative skill sets and will be given corresponding responsibilities as you grow.

The Director of FP&A - Consumer will be responsible for the users or consumer side of the business, deep-diving into the metrics that drive our consumer funnels, including Unique Users, Lead volume, and Lead Conversion, and all translations of data that feed each revenue line. Corresponding project plans, roadmaps, ROI/ROAS determinations, expenses, and other supporting FP&A activities required for the Marketing and Product departments specifically, which are directly related to the Consumer funnel.

What you’ll do:

The ideal candidate is comfortable managing metrics, analysis, and financials for multiple business units in a high-growth, dynamic and fast-paced environment. You enjoy helping your business partners find the optimal solution and can apply your highly tuned decision-making skills to assess and make the right tradeoffs. You are intellectually curious, take pride in being detail-oriented while understanding the big picture, and have strong financial modeling and planning experience. You will be part of the greater Finance department and will have the opportunity to grow and develop the FP&A team, and you will develop cross-functional relationships with executive staff across all functions of the organization.

  • Be a thought leader and support our Consumer business leaders, with the insights to operate and grow the business, to ultimately improve top-line and overall margin.

  • Provide guidance based on fundamentals of FP&A, coupled with insight and direction from business partners, and effectively share needle-moving discoveries to the Executive team.

  • Drive finance discipline and rigor, fact-based decision-making, and financial visibility across the company.

  • Act as the FP&A Subject Matter Expert on complex data and models and drive insights. Conceptualize, develop, and guide the Consumer metrics model building for our Core company-wide initiatives, based on sound business logic, deep metric exploration, and insights driven by analytics.

  • Lead the process to accurately forecast results and ensure that the company has the appropriate tools to support higher value-added decision-making.

  • Drive effective communication and alignment with your business partners, internally within Finance, our business partners including the Data Science & Analytics, Marketing, and Product teams, our C-suite/Executives, and periodically with NewsCorp, our parent company.

  • Develop and drive the Close, Forecast, and Budget/Plan, and identify risks and opportunities for regular deliverables.

  • Develop and gain buy in for financial decisions, key performance indicators, and recommendations based on a deep understanding and synthesis of data.

  • Propose action items on findings such as additional analyses to perform, reports we can create or other ways to improve business performance and decision-making.

What you’ll bring

  • Advanced knowledge of financial planning & forecasting, analysis (sensitivity, statistical, root cause, qualitative), and drivers-based modeling & methodologies for complex marketplace business models. Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the demonstrated ability to structure financial models around a high-level strategic vision.

  • 10+ years of experience in Finance (FP&A, Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Management Consulting a strong plus), including leading an FP&A team managing full time direct reports.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field. A Master's Degree in Business Administration is a plus.

  • Proven strategic thinker who is capable of distilling, packaging, and presenting complex information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner. A strong business person who knows how to partner with senior executives, cross functional stakeholders and instigate change.

  • High emotional intelligence coupled with strong business partnering abilities. Ability to recognize and correct for consistency and coordination materials and context across the company.

  • Experience with KPI reporting; identifying metrics and developing dashboards.

  • Substantial ability with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, dashboard tools, and multidimensional databases. Experience with Adaptive Insights or other forecasting software and statistical forecasting methods is a strong plus.
