Rigid Pavements Concrete Engineer IPerforms advanced and complex transportation engineering work in concrete pavements and concrete materials. Conducts concrete pavement performance evaluations. Provides technical support for concrete pavements to the districts. Supports pavement design development for safety rest areas and truck parking lots. Conducts rigid pavement design training for the districts. Conducts in-house research in concrete pavements and foundation improvements. Improves the rigid pavements sections of TxDOTandrsquo;s Pavement Manual. Collaborates with rigid pavements Inter-Agency Contracts, research institutes, and universities. Improves specifications and design standards for concrete pavements. Provides technical support in concrete pavements requested by entities outside of TxDOT. Requires extensive travel to support field projects. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Improves specifications and design standards for concrete pavements.Essential Duties:Rigid Pavements Concrete Engineer I:Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.Gives presentations on TxDOT research program activities to departmental personnel and outside entities.Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements.Performs pavement designs and makes recommendations.Reviews, edits and provides guidance on research project statements related to concrete pavements for Research Management Committees.Serves as project/team leader for advanced and highly complex projects related to concrete pavement design, forensic evaluations, and recommendations.Answers technical and policy questions related to concrete pavements inspection and maintains rigid pavements inspection data; analyzes data and provides summaries.Assists districts with rigid pavements evaluation-related matters and recommends maintenance strategies.Designs highly complex concrete pavement projects and performs specialized design.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Rigid Pavements Concrete Engineer II:Chairs or serves as a member of a contract selection team.Leads/Trains professional and administrative staff.Serves as a project manager overseeing consultants performing advanced and complex engineering work.May serve as a lead worker by serving as a resource for complex questions; assigning work; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team membersandrsquo; career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure toll aintenance team coverage.Oversees engineering aspects of assigned concrete paving projects.Serves as a project lead engineer overseeing consultants performing advanced and complex engineering work.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
