    Job Summary

    Austin Habitat for Humanity is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team of committed professionals to help take a successful, 30+ year old, organization to new heights. The Operations Assistant with be a critical member of the team that supports preconstruction management and new home warranties. This hands on position will experience trade management, client interactions, and hands on construction work. The successful candidate will have a passion to share Habitat’s work by helping build in partnership with families and the community toward a goal of eliminating substandard housing.

    The Operations Assistant is resp o nsible f or t h e f ollowing acti v ities:

    Preconstruction (70%) – Collaborating with the New Construction Director and Staff Architect will assist with all pre-construction (pre-volunteer) activity as related to foundations, flatwork, utilities, and site clearing.

  • Assist with permitting

  • Clear lots

  • Schedule Surveyors

  • Coordinate foundation, pest control, plumbers, and electricians to get foundations completed and yard lines in.

  • Rough Grade property

  • Coordinate flatwork

    Warranty (20%) – Coordinate and perform new home warranty for all new construction homes within their active warranty period.

  • Maintains warranty records and coordinates warranty work on Habitat homes.

  • Performs workmanship warranty

  • Schedules contractors and coordinates with clients for systems warranty

  • 1-year homebuyer check in

  • Delivers warranty reports and budget feedback to department

  • Ensure a positive, efficient, and welcoming atmosphere to our homeowners

    Operations (10%) -

  • Prepare construction material, tools, and accessories for weekly construction activity.

  • Perform site deliveries and pickups.

  • Participate in meetings, classes, and events as assigned.

  • Other related duties as assigned

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working with working on a team

  • Two years direct construction experience required

  • Ability to work with economically and culturally diverse populations.

  • Ability to operate a skid steer and forklift

  • High work ethic and willing to work until the job is done

  • Reliable transportation to job sites in various locations throughout Austin Habitat for Humanity service area, a valid Texas Driver’s License and current automotive liability insurance

  • Hands on, flexible and detailed orientated

  • Strong organizational skills and time management

  • High level of interpersonal, written and verbal skills

  • MS Word, Excel computer skills

  • Experience in ProCore and Smartsheets a plus
