Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, you will be responsible for the overall operation of the department. You will orient, evaluate, and document competency of personnel. You will establish, maintain, and revise departmental policies and procedures to include departmental programs, quality control, performance improvement, and safety. You will maintain departmental expenses and productivity as budgeted. You will oversee respiratory care as delivered by the Respiratory Therapy department.

  • You will hire and direct departmental staff in the performance of their duties.

  • You will oversee and maintain departmental programs by developing and revising clinical policies and procedures and assisting with department quality assurance and control.

  • You will maintain expenses and productivity within a budgeted variance.

  • You will obtain equipment and supplies as needed to meet patient care demands.

  • You will resolve problems when systems deviate from the established performance specification.

  • You will address employee concerns, conflicts, and customer-related issues according to hospital policy.

Job Qualifications

Experience

  • 3-7 years of experience

  • Five years of clinical experience in an Acute Care setting

Education

  • Graduate of American Medical Association approved Respiratory Therapy program

  • Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Management, Business, or Respiratory Therapy – preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)

  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license by the State of Texas

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David’s HealthCare policy

  • Current Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification as per St. David’s HealthCare policy

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required within 90 days
