Amazon Systems Development Engineer, Corporate Infrastructure Engineering and Deployment Services in Austin, Texas

The Corporate infrastructure services team supports Amazon’s business through the deployment infrastructure solutions driven by AWS technology. We have a worldwide focus on the sustainable and effective launch, adoption and utilization of Amazon’s technologies / systems for our Corporate, AWS and Customer Services customer base. The CIS team is looking for a System Development Engineer (SysDE) To help in our mission to develop and support our services in the most efficient and sustainable way possible.

As a SysDE, you develop technology solutions to business and customer problems. You solve complex problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices. Your solutions are testable, maintainable, and efficient. You understand the system architecture and you make appropriate design, technical trade-off decisions at application level. Through automation/technical innovation, you impact positively the performance, scalability, reliability, or availability of a product/system/service. You work to resolve the root cause of complex problems leveraging your cross-domain understanding of the technology involved in your systems. You automate and simplify development, test, and operational processes.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for working on behalf of the customers and have the ability to operate independently, autonomously and able to manage ambiguity. In addition to the technical skills, maturity, judgment, communication skills, negotiation skills and influencing skills are all essential as you interact with cross functional teams worldwide. A successful team member will be skilled at anticipating bottlenecks, balancing business needs with technical constraints, and taking calculated risks to maximize value.

Your work will focus on the following categories: The development and support of automation systems we build, application integrations we own as well as other apps we own.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust

  • Experience with Linux/Unix

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with distributed systems at scale

  • Experience building services using AWS products

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
