AAC Evaluator - Licensed Speech Pathologist

Job Description:

Overview: We seek a knowledgeable and passionate Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AAC and be dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with communication challenges. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in AAC and determine and recommend methods, devices, aids, techniques, symbols, and/or strategies to represent and/or augment spoken and/or written language in ways that facilitate communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive AAC assessments of individuals with complex communication challenges to determine the most appropriate communication devices and strategies.

  • Design and implement personalized AAC solutions, such as speech-generating devices, manual communication boards, and mobile communication apps.

  • Provide training and ongoing support to clients, families, and educational teams using AAC systems.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to approach each client’s communication goals holistically.

  • Stay updated on the latest AAC technologies and developments, applying this knowledge in practice.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

  • Certification in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred.

  • Proven experience in AAC assessment and intervention.

  • Strong understanding of motor learning and language development as they relate to AAC.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with clients, families, and team members.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.

  • Proficiency in AAC software and technology.

  • Exhibit superior technical writing for creating specific evaluation report

  • Interact well with varying ages and cultures.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Speech Therapy from an accredited program.

  • Licensure: Current state licensure/certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Arizona.

  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience as a Speech Therapist, preferably with pediatric clients and/or AAC evaluations.

  • Background Checks: Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of managing relationships with children, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
