Department of Defense Education Activity Teacher (Social Studies) in Bahrain, Bahrain

Summary About the Position: This is a 0320 Teacher (Social Studies) and 9009 AP World History (see Position Requirements), located at Bahrain Middle High School. This vacancy announcement is open to all current, permanent DoDEA-Europe & DoDEA-Pacific Educators, which includes current, permanent educators in Cuba. DoDEA educators assigned to Americas and Guam should apply via EAS. Federal employees in Bahrain are currently entitled to receive a 10% Post Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. Current Excepted Service Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Employee In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. State or Territory Certification/License. The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) accepts state educator professional certificates issued from the state departments of education in the United States and its territories. Minimum Academic Preparation and Requirements and Information, to include State endorsements (as DoDEA determines comparable to DoDEA's teacher categories), AND official transcripts reflecting 50% of the course work in the content area, must be considered with each position, where applicable. Minimum Academic Preparation and Requirements. A baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association is required. Academic preparation of at least 40 semester hours in general education course work distributed over such fields as English, history, social studies, mathematics, fine arts, languages, science, philosophy, and psychology is required. In addition, a minimum of 18 semester hours of professional teacher education course work in such areas as learning process, measurement, philosophy, psychology, social foundations, methods of teaching and curriculum applicable to the type and level of the position for which applying is required. (Note: Communications Impaired Teachers, School Nurses, School Psychologists, JROTC Instructors, and non-certified Training Instructors are excluded from the minimum academic preparation requirement.) 0320 Teacher (Social Studies). A major in social studies or a minimum of 30 semester hours in the field of social studies is required. Course work must include U.S. history, world history, political science, and physical geography. A minimum of 12 semester hours of upper level course work in social studies is required. A minimum of 3 semester hours is required in the specific subject area assigned. AND 9009 Advanced Placement World History. Upload AP Certification application package. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Foreign Degrees and Course Work from Non-accredited Institutions. Credits or degrees earned from a foreign college or university must be evaluated prior to acceptance. Three evaluation procedures are acceptable: the work must be evaluated and interpreted by a current member of National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). This website provides a list of current organizations who can perform your evaluation. You must select and work directly with one of these organizations. the foreign institution that awarded the degree is on a list endorsed by a regionally accredited university or on a list endorsed by a state department of education for the purpose of teacher certification in that state (this procedure will require an English translation of the transcript and a copy of the document awarding the degree, together with an authenticated list produced by an American university or a state department of education); and the work may be evaluated by the graduate division of a regionally accredited university and declared the equivalent of similar undergraduate or graduate work in a U.S. institution. Graduates of non-accredited institutions may have their undergraduate work validated by admittance to graduate school and completion of a minimum of 5 SH of credit in a regionally accredited graduate college. Additional Information Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19. Access to care in a military treatment facility may not be available to civilian employees except on a space available basis. Consequently, host nation medical facilities may be the only care available. The availability and level of care at host nation medical facilities will vary by location. Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Medical and dental care may be provided by host nation providers. The availability and level of care at host nation medical and dental facilities will vary by location. Selectees initially recruited from the United States may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. (Subject to approval).
