This position provides air and GHG technical support and regulatory compliance advice for the business unit and corporation. Responsible for maintaining a detailed working understanding of rules, regulations, and permit requirements and their application or potential application to business unit operations and operational modifications. Develop and adapt the business unit’s air and GHG compliance strategy to align with existing and new regulatory and corporate requirements and standards. Assures and contributes to ongoing reporting and monitoring as well as efforts to meet new/updated corporate and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • As a technical subject matter expert, read and interpret environmental regulations and permit requirements, apply them to heavy oil operations, and convey impacts in a concise way to multiple work groups.

  • Brings broad expertise and deep knowledge of air and GHG regulatory compliance to advise project teams, asset teams and operations in the business unit, and at Chevron Pipeline and Power Company and at Chevron New Energies.

  • Manages and stewards the business unit’s air permitting and Title V program (550 permits).

  • Manages agency attendance at sites.

  • Monitors and reviews proposed legislation and regulations with potential to affect business unit operations, planned activities and operational compliance.

  • Participates in industry organizations representing the business unit on local, state, and federal environmental issues and assists in the development of advocacy strategies, arguments, and materials to supports to regulatory strategy.

  • Provide technical consultation to the workforce, project teams and leadership on a range of environmental matters spanning the design, fabrication, installation, operations, and decommissioning of Chevron assets.

  • Collaborate with health, environment and safety specialists, operations personnel, engineering, and other key stakeholders (Chevron central technical groups, Corporate Affairs, industry groups, etc).

  • Mentors and shares knowledge and expertise with less experienced team members.

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with regulatory agencies, industry partners, and internal stakeholders (local and enterprise-wide).

  • Interface with digital applications used to deliver compliance monitoring, data gathering and report generation.

  • Create systems to systematically monitor for new/changed legislations/regulations and create documentation to aid in knowledge transfer.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Education: bachelors degree in science or engineering

  • Quantified experience: 10 years experience with regulatory compliance for air

  • Familiarity with air regulations and permitting in the upstream oil and gas industry

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with greenhouse gas reporting

  • Familiarity with oilfield operations

  • Relocation Options:

    Relocation will not be considered.
