Northern Metal Fab, Inc. Prefab A in Baldwin, Wisconsin

Fabricate miscellaneous parts for welded assemblies utilizing burn table, laser table, press brake, shear, drills, saw, roller, ironworker and any other piece of equipment in Prefab.

Duties and responsibilities

· Works safely, following all procedures and utilizing proper safety equipment

· Fabricate piece parts from customer drawings and/or NMF cut lists by utilizing shop equipment

· Must have own set of layout tools as per tool list

· Must have working knowledge of 3 or more pieces of NMF fabricating equipment

· Must have good working knowledge of prints and layout

· Keep current with manufacturing technology pertaining to NMF equipment

· Maintains tooling and equipment in proper working condition daily

· Completes all labor reporting documents as required

· Maintains neat and clean work area

· Advises Foreman of problem areas

· Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor

· Assists with training of other prefab machine operators

Qualifications

· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, writes simple correspondence, and effectively communicates with customers and fellow employees

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

· Two to four years in a metal fab environment

· Must be able to read blueprints effectively

· Previous experience operating prefab equipment

· Must be capable of lifting 70 pounds on a regular basis

· Must be proficient operator of three types of NMF Prefab equipment

· Must have two or more years layout experience

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this position, the employee can expect to spend most of their time indoors in moderate temperatures. If the employee will be working on the shop floor, they will be required to wear steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection. On the shop floor they may be exposed to weld smoke, paint fumes, and occasional moderate to high levels of noise. This position generally works first shift, 6am to 2:30pm, or second shift, 2:30pm to 1am, with occasional overtime as needed. Schedules may be temporarily altered based on projects and business needs.

1 – Pair of Safety Glasses with side shields (Northern can provide non-prescription safety glasses)

1 – Dead Blow Hammer, 32 Oz. 1 – 12 Oz. Ball Peen Hammer

1 – 10’ Flat Tape (For measuring circumferences) 2 – Flat Screwdrivers

2 – Phillips Screwdrivers 1 – Flat Bar (i.e. Wonder Bar, Pry Bar)

1 – Calculator 1 – 6” Square

1 – 12” Comb, Square (Good Quality, Hardened) 1 – 8” Pliers

1 – 10” Flat File 1 – Scribe

1 – Set of Allen Wrenches, .050 through 3/8” 1 – Center Point Punch – ¼” Diameter

1 – 1 ½” Scraper 1 – 6” Crescent Wrench

1 – 12” Crescent Wrench 1 – Angle Finder (General Protractor)

1 – 6” Torpedo Level 1 – Sheet Gauge

1 – Tool Box to hold above items

All Prefab Personnel should have the above listed items at their workstation. These items should be supplied by the employee and purchased within the first 60 days of employment.

Physical requirements

The physical demands represent those to be met in a manufacturing environment. In an 8-hour shift, an employee can expect to be stationary approximately 6-7 hours and moving around approximately 1-2 hours. The employee needs to be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds, 1-20 pounds constantly, 21-50 pounds frequently, and 50-100 pounds occasionally. Additionally, the employee may occasionally have to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl, frequently need to stoop, push, or pull, and constantly reach for and handle a variety of items.
