Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service Case Aide in Baltimore, Maryland

Reporting to the Client Services Supervisor, the Case Aide works in close coordination with associated program case managers, other program staff, and program partners to provide timely services to refugees and other Office of Refugee Resettlement eligible populations. The Case Aide supports the case management team with documentation and other case management tasks as needed. Responsibilities focus on working directly with refugees including in the field, in their homes, in the offices of refugee service providers, and the community at large.

    DUTIES

  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate client-centered, trauma-informed support.

  • Provide services to refugees and migrants who seek assistance in coordination with case managers, other program staff, or program partners.

  • Assist with scheduling service appointments and following up with clients to ensure attendance.

  • Transport clients to necessary appointments and assist with applications and service provision as requested and approved by the program.

  • Assist with logistics of housing set-ups.

  • Assist with collecting program and other eligibility documents from clients and partners.

  • Assist resettlement program management staff in the completion of required clerical and/or administrative casework as needed/requested and approved by the program.

  • Complete and compile the information required for departmental reports. This may require data entry and the ability to retrieve data from system(s).

  • Maintains up-to-date professional knowledge through reading, workshops/training, and conferences, as appropriate.

  • Participates in staff and department meetings as required.

  • Other responsibilities as requested by supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing case management and/or social services preferred.

  • Experience working with refugees, immigrants, or limited English speakers, is highly preferred.

  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, and database programs.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot, and follow projects through with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work as a team member and be responsive to needs.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including keen listening ability and relationship building.

  • Must have reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and valid insurance and be able to travel locally as required.

  • Fluency in one of the key languages used by client populations is preferred (includes but is not limited to Arabic, Dari, Farsi, French, Swahili, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, Creole). Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
