Johns Hopkins University Program Coordinator in Baltimore, Maryland

The Department of Academic Affairs is seeking a Program Coordinator to support activities for the Masters of Public Health (MPH) Program Office including communications with prospective and current students, event planning, supporting admissions processing and the MPH Admissions Committee, and maintaining MPH.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Expert communication about the MPH program admissions requirements.

  • Responsible for triaging students with problems and questions via walk-in visitors, emails and phone calls to the MPH Program Office.

  • Communicates a significant level of expertise about the MPH Program through the program email account, visitors, phone conversations, etc.

  • Assists the MPH Admissions Coordinator in pre-screening and distributing applications to the MPH Admissions Committee.

  • Assists in admissions processing and preparation for MPH Admissions Committee review; Tracks admitted student acceptances, declines and deferrals.

  • Maintains the internal MPH student database with incoming student information and enrollment status; Interfaces with the Student Affairs Office to obtain and track information on admissions, credentials, catalogs, etc.

  • Supports event planning for orientations, capstone symposium, faculty advising workshops, special events, etc.; Catering, multimedia, and environmental services arrangements for special events/meetings; attends meetings with JHSPH Special Events Team to assist in organizing special MPH events and meetings.

  • Administrative support for the MPH Field Experience Fund Awards and MPH Capstone Awards Subcommittees; Provides Web Support for the MPH Office.

  • Maintains listservs for MPH Office.

  • Updates MPH Program website in Site Executive.

  • Acquires overarching knowledge of the MPH Program as a whole; The formal and informal goals of the MPH office in daily activities; The standards, policies and procedures of the other offices within the school with respect to their interactions with MPH activities. Possesses sensitivity to the interrelationship of both people and functions within the MPH program office. Balances the priorities for the various required functions. Coordinates with the MPH Senior Program Manager on MPH program functions.

Special Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong writing skills including the ability to write emails and memos and thoroughly proof read written material; Use of social media to support prospective and current students.

  • Operate a personal computer to access and effectively use e-mail, electronic calendars, update portal sites, search web sites for needed information, and use other basic office support software.

  • Strong word processing skills, including preparation of detailed tables and documents. Expertise with the use of various software applications, such as word processing packages (Microsoft Office), spreadsheets (Excel), and relational databases, to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.

  • Ability to effectively utilize applications such as SOPHAS, Qualtrex, SIS, etc.

  • Strong sense of cooperation for interacting and working as a team player with other MPH program office staff on program activities and functions.

  • On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences and results having an impact on people and the efficiency and/or quality of the overall operation of the office.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.

  • Five years progressively responsible related experience.

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $21.25 - $36.90 HRLY ($58,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
