Johns Hopkins University Sr Research Program Coordinator in Baltimore, Maryland

We are seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator who will coordinate various aspects of a school-based randomized controlled trial testing the effects of the Chicago Parent Program, a universal group-based parenting intervention, delivered to parents of PreK students on a range of parent, child, and school outcomes associated with children’s wellbeing and later academic success. The Senior Research Program Coordinator is responsible for activities related to: school, parent and teacher recruitment and retention; participant consent; data collection; study protocol implementation; data entry, data cleaning, data analysis and reporting; and supporting the Principal Investigators and Project Manager in other research-related activities (e.g., literature reviews, preliminary data analyses, conference presentations, reports to the funder). The Senior RPC will work with the principal investigators and Project Manager of this project, and with other program staff as appropriate to conduct these activities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

School and Participant Recruitment & Data Collection

  • Partners with study PIs and the Project Manager in the overall planning of school and participant recruitment, data collection, and retention.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with project schools through a combination of in-person and virtual meetings.

  • Lead school, parent, and teacher recruitment and data collection, and monitor recruitment and data collection goals.

  • Develop, maintain and update database of existing and potential participants.

  • Develop and maintain records of recruitment and responses to recruitment and data collection activities.

  • Respond to phone and email inquiries related to the project in a timely fashion.

Research Protocol Implementation and Maintenance

  • Prepare materials (on paper and electronically via REDCap database) for use during data collection.

  • Schedule and conduct data collection using a variety of methods (e.g., surveys, qualitative interviews).

  • Administer and manage participant incentives.

  • Assist with provision of training and support to other project team members (e.g., research assistants) in using project data collection systems.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Fund for Educational Excellence (project collaborator) and with Chicago Parent Program group leaders in intervention schools to ensure they have the necessary materials (e.g., manuals, technology, parent handouts) to launch their in-person and virtual groups and help problem-solve issues that arise with implementation.

  • Oversee group leader submission of weekly audio recordings of Chicago Parent Program group sessions for fidelity monitoring and sharing of audio files with study collaborators for analysis.

Data Management and Analysis

  • After data is collected, review forms for accuracy and completeness, and obtain clarification/ corrections from study participants if necessary.

  • Complete data entry of study data into REDCap.

  • Clean study data as needed.

  • Assist with planning, analyzing, and interpreting results.

  • Assist with compiling and disseminating findings to various stakeholders.

Meeting Coordination and Attendance

  • Attend weekly project meetings with Hopkins team members.

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with other project collaborators/sites (e.g., Cecil County Public Schools, The Fund for Educational Excellence, Baltimore City Public Schools) and other study investigators.

  • Keep and distribute minutes of meetings to project leadership.

  • Provide updates related to project recruitment and retention at study meetings.

Supervision

  • Interviews, hires, and trains research assistants.

  • Supervises research assistants.

Other Duties

  • Assist PIs with purchasing of project materials and processing of travel for research team members as appropriate.

  • Assist PIs in preparing PowerPoint presentations and progress reports about the project.

  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to multi-task and function with independence.

  • Enthusiastic, responsible, able to work independently, and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Access to vehicle to be able to travel to schools to build relationships and collect data.

  • Knowledge/proficiency with database management (e.g., developing databases in Microsoft Excel, REDCap) is desirable.

  • Knowledge/proficiency with JHU-specific software (e.g., SAP, Concur) is desirable.

  • Some knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, STATA) is desirable.

Specific Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for an extended period of time.

  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.

  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Three years related experience.

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in related discipline (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Education). Some research experience in a related discipline such as Psychology or Public Health. Some related research experience in child, adolescent, and/or young adult populations. Related experience in data collection, data management, and/or data analysis.

  • Experience working in community settings.

  • Experience with protocol implementation (e.g., experience with outreach, recruitment, data collection; experience working with schools or community organizations).

Starting Salary Range : $41,300 - $72,300 Annually ($56,800 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
