Preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation will be essential for this Staff Accountant role. This role is for someone who wants to perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. Based in the Baltimore, Maryland area, this role is a career-building, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work. Major responsibilities

• Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

• Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries

• Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

• Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

• Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision

• Compose analyses for income statements and monthly balance sheets for management reporting

• Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

• Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request

• In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

• Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease

• Participate in various department-wide initiatives

• Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable Requirements - Recent and relevant accounting experience

• Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

• Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

• Ability to meet deadlines

• Well-founded grasp of general ledger

• Year end closings experience

• Comprehensive knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)

• Proven knowledge of month end closings

• Accounts Receivable (AR) experience required

• Foundational knowledge in bank reconciliations

• Journal entries experience

• Spreadsheet and database capabilities

• Detailed and have the ability work independently

• Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

• Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

• ERP system experience
