The Virtual Machines and Containers team is looking for talented software engineers to develop Microsoft's versatile, performance critical, and secure virtualization platform.  We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who can learn quickly, have a passion for writing high quality software, and enjoy working within a dynamic team.

Our team develops core functionality in Hyper-V such as the management and orchestration interfaces that provides access to the virtualization capabilities in the Windows operating system to clients ranging from the Azure Cloud, on-premises Windows Server users, all the way to scenarios such as the Windows Subsystem for Linux. These features also include VM Live Migration that enables a variety of availability and optimization scenarios by seamlessly moving running VMs between machines in a datacenter.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a dynamic team of engineers

• Learn and share ideas continuously

• Drive for quality in everything you do and continuously improve the quality of the systems on which you work

• Collaborate across team boundaries to define and drive team charter and vision

• Provide technical input across the Windows Core and Azure teams

• Design and implement new virtualization related features for Hyper-V and Windows

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of development experience

• 4+ years of development experience in Go, Rust, C or C++ BS in Computer Science or 4+ years of experience in systems programming

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• Solid design skills and implementation experience

• Excellent coding, debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills

• Demonstrated understanding of systems software

• Experience with virtualization, containers, networking, storage and security

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
